President Lanny Witt and his wife Carol have spent their life together in education. After 10 years in public education, the Witts began their work in Christian education at East Texas Christian Academy in Tyler, Texas, where Lanny served as the school head and Carol taught pre-k, kindergarten and first grade. In 2000, the Witts moved to Fort Worth, Texas, and Southwest Christian School where Lanny served as the president and Carol taught thirdgrade.
In 2003, the Witt family moved to Montgomery, Alabama, and Alabama Christian Academy. This fulfilled a dream for them as they were able to move closer to Carol’s parents in Huntsville, Alabama. After 4 years of serving there, Lanny as secondary principal, and Carol as a pre -k teacher, Lanny and Carol joined the Boyd-Buchanan family where Carol is also teaching 8th grade English.
The Witts have two daughters. Haley attends Harding University and Heather is a freshman at Boyd-Buchanan. They live in Ooltewah, Tennessee.
“Each school has brought a different blessing as well as a challenge. The public school experience was wonderful in that I got the opportunity to coach and teach at a number of very large schools. As an educator, I am a huge supporter of public education. ETCA was a great environment and allowed us to grow and learn in a nurturing environment. We were there as they added a grade a year and developed a high school. It was so rewarding to see that first high school class cross the stage. SCS was great in that it was a much bigger school and had 2 campuses. That provided valuable experience in working with a larger number of administrators, faculty and staff. We loved Alabama and ACA and working with over 1000 students helped prepare us for the work here at BBS. We are truly blessed to be here and are excited about the future of Boyd-Buchanan School.”
