Adopt-a-Grandparent

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this:  to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world” (James 1:27).  Our Adopt-A-Grandparent ministry is an opportunity for students to put into practice religion that God accepts as “pure and faultless.”  Students who volunteer are assigned an “adopted” grandparent who they make a commitment to visit once a week.  Students may visit their “adopted” grandparent on their own or they may go with our group from school each week.  Many of our students who have participated in this ministry have formed very close relationships with their “adopted” grandparent and genuinely look forward to visiting them each week.  In turn, many of the “adopted” grandparents who are visited each week grow to love their “adopted” student and seeing them becomes one of the highlights of their week.  It is a beautiful sight to watch young and old smiling and laughing together and to know that God is smiling too!
