Development
Boyd-Buchanan School continues to grow as we announce our Invest in Imagination campaign. In addition to Boyd-Buchanan’s continued commitment to the development of academic, spiritual and physical potential of each student, we maintain a commitment to preserve and grow the facilities that serve our student body. A three-year capital campaign is planned to build a new Library-Media Center, increase transportation fleet, enhance the endowment, reduce the debt, fund new technology, and supplement sustaining funds.
A Library-Media Center is planned to be built for the 2009-2010 school year. This center is needed to accommodate our growing student body. This building will house the elementary, middle and high school library-media center programs with state-of-the-art technology and will accomplish two primary goals: Create a learning center that is the hub of the school environment and is integral to teaching and learning by providing opportunities for students to focus on independent learning while giving support and encouragement to their individual talents; and provide additional space, hours, and resources for after-school studies as well as student mentoring and tutoring programs.
The plans for the new Library-Media Center will have an elementary library along with an exciting reading corner, a well-equipped secondary library, a state-of-the-art computer center, a cutting edge media room, and a mezzanine with tutoring rooms and a resource area. Conference rooms will allow for meetings that will not disturb the quiet atmosphere in the open library. There will be ample storage space along with offices and restrooms. Additional space will allow for more resources to be used by students and staff by adding more tables, work stations, computers and print items. In all, the new building will encompass library space, conference rooms, storage, periodicals, office space, and tutoring rooms. A full-time librarian will be devoted to the Elementary wing, and the Middle/High school wing will have its own dedicated librarian. Staffing will be complemented with a part-time assistant and parent volunteers serving as library aides.
Planned Giving is making a charitable gift that provides maximum benefit to the charity and the donor--as well as others who may be involved. Such gifts usually involve major assets and thus require thoughtful consideration. While making a well-planned gift can be challenging and somewhat time-consuming, it can also be one of life's most satisfying experiences.
