AP Art
Advanced Placement Studio Art
Semesters 2 Credit 1
This is a course for highly motivated, responsible and talented students who are willing to work at a high rate of speed, both in and out of the classroom. Other facets of this course are on-going critical analyses and a journal illustrating the concentration, breadth, and quality of the student's work. For Advanced Placement designation on the student's transcript, the student will present a portfolio of work which follows the College Board guidelines for evaluation by AP graders.
Visual Art I
Art I is a prerequisite for all other art courses. Students coordinate the elements and principles of art into compositions. Areas explored are painting, drawing, ceramics, graphic and fiber arts, and art history.
Visual Art II
Art II students continue to develop in their ability through advanced assignments. Techniques and skills increase in drawing, painting, pottery, perspective, photography, and fiber arts.
Visual Art III
Students increase their skills in advanced drawing, painting (acrylic and watercolor), pottery (handbuilt and wheel), photography, graphics and printmaking. Art history and appreciation are included in Art III.
Visual Art IV
Art IV is an advanced course designed for serious art students. Areas of special concern are advanced projects, preparation of a college portfolio, competitions, and set designs. Artists' works and styles are explored by the students.
