BBS ELEMENTARY STUDENTS - SERVICE PROJECTS

 

BBS ELEMENTARY STUDENTS SERVING OTHERS 2010-2011
Giving our elementary families an opportunity to
help our community…
AUGUST – “Project H2O” – please bring one bottled water to fill an urgent need of the Chattanooga Community Kitchen.
 
SEPTEMBER – “We ‘Can’ Because We Care” – please bring one can of food from home to donate to the Chattanooga Food Bank.
 
OCTOBER – “Sweet Treats” – please bring one candy bar or pack of gum to send to Erlanger and Memorial hospital waiting rooms.
 
NOVEMBER – “Socks For Soles” – please bring one pair of socks to send to Chattanooga’s Inner City program.
 
DECEMBER – “Caring Cards” – in class we will make Christmas cards to send to soldiers and to the children spending the holidays in the hospital.
 
JANUARY –“Home Away From Home” - please bring an overnight item to send to the Ronald McDonald House (ex. toothbrush, toothpaste, mouth wash, soap, shampoo…)
 
FEBRUARY – “Sharing Smiles With Seniors” – please bring one Crossword puzzle book or magazine to send to NHC and Martin Boyd Home.
 
MARCH – “Dollars For Dogs (& Cats)” – please bring $1 to help buy dog & cat food for McKamey Animal Shelter.
 
APRIL – “April Showers…” – please bring one umbrella to donate to Chattanooga’s homeless.
 
MAY – “Coloring The World Beautiful” – please bring one coloring book and 8 crayon pack to send to St. Jude patients.
 
*We will be recycling every month this year in partnership with Orange Grove.
Last year’s “year of service” was a huge success!!!

Elementary Counseling News

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING:

Please let me know if your child has a need to be seen individually or in a small group setting. Students who are seen individually may be seen for anxiety, friendship or social skill problems, sadness...

SMALL GROUPS OFFERED:

Banana Splits (divorced families)

Anger Management

Social Skills (friendship, bullying...)

Kids Count (families affected by cancer)

Grief (families affected by death)

 

LARGE/ CLASSROOM GROUPS:

I will visit each classroom one time per month to work on a service project while discussing such traits as giving, helping, sharing, caring... Other topics that may be discussed in a classroom setting include bullying, social skills, study skills...
